If it is a roller coaster, what else would it be?

I could be wrong, but isn't goldstriker the only coaster built in a cedar fair park recently that isn't B&M?

Coast Rider is a Mack and Wonder Mountain's Guardian is built by Art Engineering. So 5/8 Cedar Fair coasters in the last 5 years were B&Ms, with all major steel coasters being built by that company.

It could be a family coaster, which would likely make it a Mack of some sort (either a wild mouse or a spinner probably). It could also be a wood coaster, which means it would likely be GCI, though I wouldn't rule out Cedar Fair installing their first RMC at Kings Island either. If it is a major steel coaster, I agree that B&M would be the likely maker, but I could also see Cedar Fair giving one of Mack's more recent designs a try or possibly going with something complete out of left field. I'd rule out Intamin or Premier Rides as Kings Island already has two Premier launchers and Intamin has lost favor with most of the US parks (though Cedar Fair and Six Flags more than most). I'm just having a hard time picturing what type of coaster would work best at Kings Island...they've already got the best coaster collection in the Cedar Fair chain IMO and nothing in B&M's catalog seems like a good fit for the park. If the mystery Kings Island project is indeed a coaster, I'm leaning more toward a wood coaster or a family coaster than a big B&M.

Wow that means there is no possibilty that we would see Sky Rocket 3 (The more improved and intense "Tempesto" style.) coming at KI.

;)

Those are great pictures. Thanks for posting. I didn't realize this new rapids ride entrance was so elaborate.

instead of making a new bridge, or tunnel under the train tracks, they're putting ANOTHER train crossing in. No matter what this new entrance will forsure give some good new views of diamondback. By the way is anyone heading to the park for Coasterstock this weekend!? if you are please do post any pictures you take and if you here anything this weekend from Don/Other speakers

I would doubt it considering they just rerouted the entrance to it. Maybe whatever this will be will travel under the train bridge?

And we have a layout!
Image

Well a topdown view at least... Anyway appears to be a wooden coaster, most likely GCI. Hopefully it'll use the terrain well.

This will look so much nicer in Rivertown than a B&M giga. If this is truly the layout, I'd rather have a twistier layout since GCI is much better at laterals than airtime.

Question. Why does Cedar Fair (honestly) kinda suck the most at keeping their coaster plans secret? Virtually (literally?) every single Cedar Fair coaster from 2009 onwards had their layouts leaked long before announcement day. Like there isn't even any hint of an attempt to keep any of their plans secret (except maaaaaybe for Banshee with the Bat misdirection, but that's a stretch because that was already a touch obvious). :P

Valravn's layout wasn't leaked. The original leak had the main elements(plus a loop, which was probably removed somewhere in the design process) but not the physical layout.

Not sure if this is enough to get me to go back to KI, but it should be a good addition since I always thought that a modern woodie and a giga were the only two coaster types the park was lacking.

The park doesn't need a giga especially with it's proximity to Cedar Point. It should aim for different experiences than what CP currently has, such as a flyer.

Not that surprised by this, as I expected a coaster similar to this scale for a coaster project. It should be a nice ride for the park, and while it will be the 4th wood coaster at the park it is sufficiently different from the existing three to still add to the lineup. Will this draw enthusiasts? No, because GCI's are quite common. Will this draw the general public? Absolutely, and that is all that really matters.

Christ if that's really a GCI that's a big slap in the face to Ohio in general. They have higher standards there.

Well, at least it looks like it has the potential to be more thrilling that Alton Towers' GCI...
