Yeah actually would have to convince myself with this! Wonder how much they're gonna charge for this though to make the money back. $20? any ideas?

That would be $20 well spent imo given the thrill factor.

The only thing that bugs me about the ride is the tower. I know that it is the ride's support structure, but it honestly seems like slapping a rollercoaster on the Empire State Building.

probably closer to 30-35. Look at the building. It can't support having a four hour line in there and still function as a retail mall and be safe. Not to mention it seems to be the only ride attraction they'll have. If the stats for the various height towers are an indication it will probably still only run around 960pph. They have to be assuming that the price to ride will keep the line manageable. Also look at the costs of other one-shot attractions in the area, slingshots and Skydive towers already charge that much. Hell, Manhattan Express was $15 and that is one of the worst coasters I have ever been on in my time on Earth. i wouldn't be surprised if they crank it up to $50 for the first year

I remember watching a video on this I believe they are going to do $20 for a wrist band for unlimited rides that day

Has anybody thought about how Six Flags will come back at this? I mean KK has held the record for the past 9 years and we all know Six Flags cannot live with someone else having the record.

I'm talking about height here, not speed. I mean the whole reason that KK was built was because Six Flags hates Cedar Fair so they had to do something to get rid of their record.

When I first thought of the concept, I thought they were going to cheap a world record like formula rossa, but this design blew me away, I looks creative, original, and NEW!

In the years since TTD and KK were built, both companies have refocused their attention elsewhere. Six Flags loves their records, but simply isn't spending the money that would be needed to top a record like this. If anything, the real competitor for that record in the future would be Las Vegas or Dubai.

Also, 9 years (or 11 by the time this opens) is a lot longer than I thought SF would hold this record. They held it for a full decade!

You forgot to keep capacity in mind. Those slingshots and skydive towers have an extreme low pph. Doing a rough estimate it's probably around 50-60pph. Even if this ride will have half of the announced pph for the concept. You can still handle at least 8 times as much guests per hour than those 50$ rides.

I guess something around 10-15$ a ride sounds like a normal price you would see and probably double the price for a wristband.

Maybe an observation deck at the top.

I would think a segment of people would be terrified of this ride, which might keep the line somewhat controllable. The lines to get to the top of the Stratosphere are fairly long, but for the rides themselves, never more than a 15 minute wait. People scared of extreme height won't go anywhere near this coaster.

you two make tourist traps sound like bad things. Doesn't the one thing all of have in common is a love for something that is considered a tourist trap?

DAMN, this things looks amazing.
Still not happy KK will lose it's height record, buttttttt, dat outer banked turn doe.

As for pricing,
NYNY charges $15 per ride on the NYNY coaster, or $25 for unlimited rides.
So $20 seems reasonable for this.

Old news, but according to a few sources S&S and US Thrillrides have backed out of the project somehow. It looks like Intamin is now in control of this project (Oh, what a good thing  ) Now things get interesting!
It's been a long time

A brand new "park" with no prior rides experience purchases a record-breaking Intamin.
